■3rd Person POV■

The mid-semester exam is around the corner, the third year students are all starting to focus more on their studies. It's been three days since Y/N watched Touma's practice and Ushijima told her to keep her eyes on him.

Since then, Ushijima always is the first to greet whenever they passed. When she comes to watch him practice, Ushijima would always spare a glance at her and walk her back to the dorm after. These changes in Ushijima weren't gone unnoticed by his mates, some of them are surprised to see this side of him, but Tendo, Semi, and Ohira are quite pleased to see him like this.

 Actually, his friends know Y/N's feelings from long ago, as the girl always comes to watch their practice, and always be by Ushijima's side. They felt bad for her before, as Ushijima didn't really care when she's around. But now, the situation change, Ushijima is the one who's trying to get close to her. Even though Ushijima doesn't know what kind of feeling he has for Y/N yet, his friends are aware of it, and they're happy to see him like this.

Seeing Ushijima's slight change makes it harder for Y/N to forget her feelings for him. Y/N's happy that Ushijima has become kinder than before, but she doesn't want to get ahead of herself. 

The bell rings, it's time for class. Y/N walks with Akane, going out of the cafeteria when Ushijima's voice was heard. Ushijima approaches the two, Tendo is behind him as he cheerfully waves at Akane makes the girls scoff. The redhead and the blondy start to bickers as soon as they see each other, more of Tendo annoys Akane.

Ushijima: Y/N...

Y/N: what is it Wakatoshi?

Ushijima: Wanna study together after school? 

Y/N was surprised by the offer, she used to be the one who asks to study together with him. This makes her happy.

Y/N: uh... yes, I want to...

Akane: Then I'll come too... I'm not letting my Y/N alone with this heartless bastard...

Y/N: A-Akane...

Ushijima just stares at Akane and Y/N and nods his head, meaning he agrees. 

Tendo: well, I'm not letting y captain precious time get damaged by you, so I'll go too~

Y/N: it'll be fun to study together... Wakatoshi...

Y/N is smiling at Wakatoshi, happy that she will study together with her friends. Ushijima, doesn't mind that Tendo and Akane tag along, he just wants to focus on studying and he needs Y/N around him. Truth to be told, deep down he wishes that there could only be the two of them studying together.

Just then.

Touma: Can I join? studying together sounds fun~

Everyone looks at Touma as he's walking toward them. 

Touma glances at Ushijima and vice versa. Tendo and Akane exchanges glance and turn their gaze back at Ushijima, Y/N, and Touma. The two could feel some sort of tension in the air as both captains stare at each other.

Y/N: it's okay Hisui kun, you can join... right Wakatoshi?

Ushijima and Touma look at Y/N who's smiling at them, the tension seems died down.

Tendo: L/N chan is amazing...

Akane: she sure is...

■Y/N'POV■

Hisui kun, Akane, Tendo, Wakatoshi, and I are studying in the library right now. The five of us sitting at the same table focusing on ur studies. Wakatoshi sits on my right side, while Hisui is on my left.

Tendo kun and Akane sit across from us. Wakatoshi, Tendo kun, and Touma only gonna study for two hours before going to their practice. Yes, they're all still going to practice for their last tournaments as Shiratorizawa's volleyball and basketball team member.

I stole a glance at Wakatoshi's way. He's always serious in whatever he does, and that side of him, I really admire it. Just then, his gaze meets mine and my body grew tense.

Ushijima: what is it?

Y/N: ah... nothing... 

I turn my gaze back at my book and try to work on a question. It's been a while since the last time I studied with Wakatoshi right next to me. Even though today isn't just us, I'm so happy to have his presence around me.

I... am happy...

Even though it will be hard for me to forget about my feeling for him if we stay in touch like this, even though I might get hurt again in the end, I don't want to be away from Wakatoshi. I want to be around him as long as I can. But this time, I will try to not distract him.

■Ushijima's POV■

I'm studying just fine, but I stole a glance at Y/N once in a while. When she's not around, it was kind of hard to focus on studying or practicing. I can't help but look for her.

The practice will start in fifteen minutes, so Tendo and I tidy up our stuff and gonna leave earlier. I look at Hisui, he seems to like doing the same thing. The basketball team too still needs to practice for their own tournaments.

Then I see Y/N puts her books inside her bag too.

Tendo: You're done too L/N chan?

Y/N: uh yes... I... it's been a while, and I want to stop by and watch you guys practice... 

Y/N looks up at me, she looks nervous.

Y/N: can I?

Ushijima: yes... 

I've asking her to come and watch my practice again and she finally agrees. 

Touma: Chair mate chan, you're going to watch the volleyball practice today? not fair...

Y/N turns her back on me and looks at Hisui. He really is trying to get her attention.

Y/N: w-why is that?

Touma: watch me practice to Chair mate chan~ tomorrow, can you come and see me play... 

Y/N: um okay, I'll see you practice too Hisui kun...

Dub Dub

She's not just going to see me. Hisui glances at me and smiles. We're all walking out of the library and head to the gym area. Hisui part ways with us but before he goes, He raises his hands up in front of Y/N and she taps his hands.

They... look close... closer than she and I before...

Hisui leaves for the basketball gym, and Akane too leaves because she wants to go to buy something. Now there are only Tendo Y/N and I. Y/N goes to the bleacher's area while Tendo and I go change our clothes and start practicing.

I look up at Y/N, it does calm me to see her up there. I could focus on practicing, knowing that Y/N there on the bleachers. During the break, I would look up and see as she's smiling at me. Why back then I didn't realize that her presence is important to me.

The practice ends and we have already clean the gym.

Tendo: Ushijima, you can go first, I got something to talk about with Semi-Semi and Ohira

I look at the three grinning teammates of mine. I don't know why they're grinning so I just nod at them. I walk out of the gym and see Y/N as she's waiting for me. Back then, I don't really pay attention to her, but after having days where she's not there to wait for me, I'm happy to see this.

Y/N: um... where's Tendo kun and the other?

Ushijima: they say they have things to do and told me to go first...

Y/N: uh okay...

We walk in silence, it's normal like this. But something is bugging me. Y/N always looks happy to interact with Hisui. Images of when I saw Hisui touches Y/N from earlier and back then when I saw him snake his arm around her flashed through my head. 

My body moves on its own, as I place my hand on the top of Y/N's head. Y/N stops walking and look up at me.

Y/N: Wakatoshi?

Her face is flushed, she looks flustered, looks adorable.

Did you make this kind of face with him too?

I stroke her hair gently.

Ushijima: thank you for coming to our practice...

She gets even redder and averts her gaze to the ground.

Y/N: it's... it's nothing... i... I'm happy to watch you guys practice...

Seeing her like this makes my chest feels warm.

Don't show this side of you to another man...

Don't let him see this side of you...

I... want to be the only one to make you like this...
